Acerola (Malpighia glabra) is a small fruit tree growing in a hot and dry climate. Acerola fruits are extremely rich in vitamin C – some sources indicate that the vitamin content is 10 times higher than in citrus fruit. In addition, they are a great source of other vitamins (including A, B1, B2, B3), minerals (calcium, iron, phosphorus) and anthocyanins.
